About this Mac
Apple’s MD102LL/a was one of Apple’s best-selling Macbook Pro of all time and the last of its kind. The mid-2012 a1278 marks the end of this line of Macbook Pro with Apple released the “retina display” Macbook Pro. The 2012 Macbook Pro marks the end of the Steve Jobs era. This is the first generation of 13-inch Macbook Pro to feature USB 3.0 and the last to feature a CD/DVD Drive.

The MacBook Pro Mid 2012 2.9GHz i7 came standard with a 750 GB, 6 Gb/s Serial ATA (5400 RPM) hard drive. The HDD can be upgraded to an SSD with any 2.5 inch drive.
Screen Size and Resolution
This MacBook Pro 2012 13” has a native resolution and a widescreen TFT active-matrix of 1280×800, and a LED-backlit display of 2560 by 1600 equipped with an IPS technology. This modelsupports an external display at 2560×1600 and passes an audio signal.
Processor& Graphics Processing Unit (GPU)
This model is powered by a 22 nm, 64-bit Intel Mobile Core i7 “Ivy Bridge” (I7-3520M) processor which includes two independent processor “cores” on a single silicon chip. Each core has a dedicated 256k level 2 cache, shares 4 MB of level 3 cache, and has an integrated memory controller (dual channel).
This has two processing cores that can compute complicated operations. It comes with an 8X DL “SuperDrive,” and an “integrated” Intel HD Graphics 4000 graphics processor that shares system memory.

This MacBook Pro has a 256k level 2 cache and a 4 MB Level 3 cache plus a 5 GT/s front side bus with 8 GB of 1600 MHz DDR3L SDRAM (PC3-12800) RAM. This revolves around a 64-bit architecture, dedicated graphics processing.
Battery Life
This model has a swappable 63.5-watt-hour lithium polymer battery design that lasts for 7 hours of wireless web use. We find that 2-3 hours of active use is more realistic in real life application.

This Macbook Pro 13″ is the last to allow users to upgrade RAM, drives, and the battery with ease. The 2012 Macbook Pro 2.9GHz has compatibilityup to OS 10.15 Catalina.
